I know you are here on this page because you want to know if you can freeze fried chicken? You probably have a huge dinner party you want to prepare ahead of time for or you just made a killer recipe and you would love to enjoy your chicken a little later down. Whatever the reason is, can fried chicken be frozen? The answer is yes and below I am going to show you how to do it.
How to Freeze Fried Chicken
Freezing fried chicken is pretty simple and if you do it properly, you should be able to keep your delicious poultry for up to 4 months and it will still be finger licking good!
If you just cooked a fresh batch of chicken and you are planning on freezing it, the first thing you need to do is make sure that it is properly cooled down.
After cooling, you can now begin to wrap the pieces of chicken with freezer wrap. You need to make sure all the pieces are properly covered as you do not want them to get freezer burn. While this is an extra step and not really necessary, if you want to add an extra layer of wrapping, use aluminum foil to wrap the chicken already covered in plastic wrap.
Once you got everything fully wrapped, you can now place them inside a freezer bag or container. These will add another level of protection to the chicken and also helps to retain the moisture.
After everything is taken care of, you can now place them into the freezer. At this point, I would advise you to write the date on the freezer bags/containers, just so you can have an idea as to when they first went in. You can freeze fried chicken for up to 4 months, so having an idea as to how long they have been in the refrigerator can be very helpful.
How Do You Thaw Fried Chicken?
Fried chicken is pretty easy and all you really have to do is take it out of the freezer and allow it to defrost in the refrigerator. Once you take out the frozen packets, just just let them sit overnight inside the fridge. By the time you are ready to use them, they should be good to go and totally thawed out.
Once the chicken is defrosted, you are definitely going to want to have to reheat it. I have a pretty good reheating fried chicken guide that you can check out. On that page, I highlight the best options available and what steps you need to take to get everything perfectly warmed up.
I will just give a quick overview for those of you who might not want to leave the page. Use the oven if you want to perfect your fried chicken. Using the microwave is a sure path to disaster as it is going to come out soggy and super disgusting. You also can’t re-fry the poultry, as you would just end up throwing it away as it would be super oily.
