Thawing Hot Dog/Hamburger Buns at Room Temperature

The easiest way to defrost frozen hot dog/hamburger buns is to simply leave them on the kitchen counter.

As the buns thaw, they’ll absorb the moisture, making them soft and fresh like the day you first placed them in the freezer.

Once defrosted, you can toast the hamburger or hot dog buns either in the oven or the grill.

How to Thaw Frozen Hot Dog Buns

The problem arises when the buns are left in the microwave too long, they can turn out soggy, so be cautious using this method.

When frozen bread is microwaved the frozen ice crystals break down, resulting in buns that are soft and warm.

Instructions 

  1. Take the frozen hot dog or hamburger buns and place them on a microwave-safe plate.
  2. Microwave the buns on high for 10 seconds, check to see if they have they have thawed to your liking.
  3. If not, microwave in 10 second increments until the buns are fully defrosted.
  4. It generally should not take more than 15 to 20 seconds for them to fully defrost.

Please Note: Be aware that microwaving hamburger/hot dog buns for too long will make them soggy. Also, the buns will become chewy and hard if left out too long after they were microwaved.
