Nike is the worldwide leader when it comes to athletic footwear. You can easily find shoes for just about any type of activity and people buy them in numbers! The reason for this is that they are a company that has proven itself as delivering top-notch footwear that delivers outstanding performance. From basketball, running, football, dancing and skateboarding, you can find the Nike logo going about.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are not going to find Nike shoes for your spin class or cycling in general. It seems as if the company has focused on specific sports and left the cycling arena all together. This is actually a good thing as there are other brands that will deliver top-notch performance and this is something that you are going to need when you are doing your class.
Have no Fear, Check Out These Top Amazing Brands
There are a ton of different spin shoe options available and the great thing about the ones I will highlight below is that the focus is on performance, so you can be sure that whatever one you buy, you are going to be getting great value for your money.
Shimano – If you take a look on the feet of some of the people in your Spin class, I am pretty sure that some of them will be wearing Shimano shoes. This company is considered to be one of the best (if not the best) when it comes to footwear for cycling. Everything about them is good, as they deliver top of the line quality and their shoes also perform exceptionally well. If you want footwear that most instructors recommend, then this is the brand to check out.
Sidi – When you talk about top of the line shoes for riding, the Sidi brand is always mentioned. These have become extremely popular in Spinning classes, as they offer excellent performance and have that ideal fit. They are also stylish and not as ugly as some of the other shoes that people wear. This is a must-have brand and you should give them a try if you are looking for solid footwear.
What About Those Nike Cross Trainers You Own?
While I highly recommend getting special shoes for Spinning, it is not a must. If you look on my 2014 guide on Spinning Shoes, I highlight that depending on what level you want to take it to, you can wear regular athletic sneakers to class.
If you have a pair of Nike Cross Trainers, you can easily ride around in them with no problems. Most of the gyms have bikes that feature pedal cages. These pedal cages makes it easy to just stick your feet in and ride and this is why you can wear anything.
Why I say it is a good deal to go with Nike Cross Trainers is the fact they are ultra-lightweight and comfortable to wear. You do not have to worry about a bad fit and it will probably make your class or your performance in it much better. Another thing is you can match easier with whatever outfit you are wearing, as cycling shoes tend to not have much style to them.
